Marine Radio Exam
Take your VHF or MF/HF marine radio exam online with Blue Water Sailing from your own home and gain your marine radio license. You will complete the exam online under the supervision of our AMC authorised invigilator via Zoom. You can be assured our support to make this as smooth and hassle-free as possible.
These certificates are also known as the Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) and Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP) marine radio exams.
The SCORP online exam consists of 25 multi-choice questions (duration 30 minutes with a 70% pass mark) and a practical component. LROPC is 50 multiple-choice questions (duration 60 mins and 70% pass mark).
We recommend that you attempt the Revision Questions on the AMC website to ensure you are ready to sit the exam.
During the practical component, which takes around 10 minutes, you will demonstrate that you meet the following requirements through a role play:
- demonstrate the ability to use a marine radio, turn on and off, adjust volume, power, background noise and set channel;
- demonstrate a Mayday call and message;
- demonstrate log in, routine call, message and log out;
- demonstrate an understanding of digital selective calling operating procedures and distress alert; and
- demonstrate setting the channel for dual watch.
