Sample Itinerary (North)

Day 1 & 2: After arriving and provisioning at Mooloolaba on 3 May, we overnight at the marina before leaving early for a passage up the Sunshine Coast, rounding Noosa Heads and Rainbow Beach before entering the Wide Bay Bar into the Great Sandy Strait.

Day 3: We motor through the Great Sandy Strait, a beautiful network of narrow channels offering sheltered cruising and abundant wildlife. Our destination is Fraser Island, where you’ll have some time ashore at the resort.

Day 4: Crossing Hervey Bay, we make landfall at the Port of Bundaberg for a BBQ and chance to meet fascinating sailors from all around the world.

Day 5–6: Continuing north, we sail to the atoll of Lady Musgrave Island for two nights (weather permitting). Called Australia’s best “get-away-from-it-all” reef anchorage, it offers a full day to swim, snorkel, and explore this stunning coral lagoon ashore.

Day 7: From Lady Musgrave, we sail on to North West Island, the second largest coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef. This pristine national park island offers excellent snorkeling, turtle nesting beaches (in season), and spectacular birdlife—a true wilderness anchorage.

Day 8: An early departure sees us sail south to Great Keppel Island for our final overnight anchorage, with time to explore the beaches and enjoy sunset drinks.

Day 9: After time to explore Great Keppel a short sail brings us into Rosslyn Bay Marina at Yeppoon. Dinner ashore, overnight on the yacht and depart next morning (12 May).

This passage covers 313 nautical miles, with four days of sailing exceeding nine hours—a true coastal adventure exploring the length of the Capricorn Coast.
