Sailing Instructor Position Vacant
Our friendly instructors are what makes us Melbourne’s most popular sailing school with nearly seventy 5-star reviews.
We are looking for a welcoming, patient and safety-conscious instructor to teach 4-day liveaboard courses, weekend (9am-5pm) and 4-hour sailing experiences.
Coastal mile builders, deliveries and other adventure sails are also on the cards. Work is available once or twice a month, so this is a great way to supplement other employment doing what you love. You will need to be available to work weekends.
Qualifications
The minimum requirement is RYA Yachtmaster Coastal or Offshore. You will need to gain other qualifications to achieve an AMSA Certificate of Competency (Sailing Master Offshore Near Coastal). See https://www.amsa.gov.au/qualifications-training/domestic-qualifications/sailing-master-coastal-nc
These include current First aid, Advanced power boat handling, Diesel course and Sea, safety and survival.
In addition, instructor training is provided and assistance given to gain instructor approval from International Yacht Training. RYA Cruising Instructor qualification is highly valued.
Other Requirements
You will need great personal, communication and teaching skills, be student-centered, and able to share your passion for sailing. You will need to become familiar with our Safety Management System, and follow it carefully.
Remuneration
Blue Water Sailing School pays better than any other school and we allow for set up and pack up time. Our rates are based on $55 per hour. The basis of engagement is by contract. You will need an ABN and to invoice us for your work.
