Hamilton Island Race Week 2024

Crew on a competitive Beneteau First 40.7 in this iconic regatta.

Hamilton Island Race Week is one of the world’s most famous yachting events – and every year, it brings spectators and yachties from all around the globe to the Whitsundays for an exciting line up of on and offshore events. The event is the perfect combination of spectacular island racing and evening fun ashore. Set on Hamilton Island in the Whitsunday Islands, the race week spans 6 races around the island over 7 days, with a fun filled lay-day in the middle. With more than 200 yachts racing in sparking blue waters, filled with whales, turtles and dolphins, it’s is my favourite annual regatta.

What you’ll love about Hamilton Island Race Week:

  • The fantastic party atmosphere, which brings together competitors, family and friends from all over the world.
  • The wide range of events – which includes a Grand Prix class for top-class racers, an IRC Passage class for modern, fast-cruising yachts, and performance racing and sports boat classes.
  • The week includes a full and diverse calendar of onshore events, including lunches and dinners presented by celebrity chefs, fashion, golfing competitions and wine tastings (extra cost).
  • With training schools with similar boats charging well over $4,000, this is a bargain and is sure to fill quickly.
